Andrew Bannister from the Class of 2009 has pursued his dreams to become a two time Australian Paracycling Champion (2015 and 2016). Andrew was so proud when he ran as a Parathlete in the School Sports Cross Country in Year 12 and he went on the represent WA School Sports as their first Parathlete in Cross Country at the Australian School Sports Cross Country.

Andrew's favourite memory from Sacred Heart was Catherine Marcello. She was the Teacher's Aide in Andrew's classroom on his first day of school at Padbury Catholic School and his last day of school at Sacred Heart. Andrew loved all his teachers and aides in the Mary McKillop Centre: Fiona Aitken, Catherine Marcello, Jenny Magno, Michelle Gelmi and Guy Gurney. They were so supportive, inspiring, patient and committed to ensuring Andrew reached his potential.

Sport has been the best thing for Andrew and he has represented WA multiple times in athletics and cycling. He is currently the WA Open Men's Para Athlete Cross Country Champion and he won the Australian Paraduathlon in 2017. He works part-time for Crown Perth, volunteers at Perth Children's Hospital and is currently training for the 2019 Australian Cycling Championships.
