The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia has an Executive Directive on enrolment. This Directive contains a priority order that is used to select students for whom an offer of enrolment will be made. The priority order contains eight categories listed below. Due to the high demand for places at Sacred Heart College and the number of applications we receive from the below categories, we are often unable to consider non-Catholic applications until either later in the commencing year, or into later year groups.

  • Catholic students from Catholic Primary Schools with a Parish Priest reference.
  • Catholic students from non-Catholic Primary Schools with a Parish Priest reference.
  • Other Catholic students from Catholic Primary Schools.
  • Other Catholic students from non-Catholic Primary Schools.
  • Siblings of non-Catholic students.
  • Non-Catholic students from Catholic schools.
  • Non-Catholic students from other Christian denominations.
  • Other non-Catholic students.

Note: The College also includes the following priorities when making offers of enrolment.

  • Every effort is made to accept brothers and sisters of students currently enrolled but no guarantee can be given.
  • Every effort is made to accept sons and daughters of College employees but no guarantee can be given.
  • Every effort is made to accept the sons and daughters of Alumni but no guarantee can be given.

Please note that geographical proximity to the College and length of time the application has been submitted are not taken into consideration.

Enrolment Procedures

The selection process for new families wishing to enrol their child into Year 7 is outlined below:

  • New Families
    • An Expression of Interest can be lodged at any time before the child completes Year 4.
    • Copies of current reports, the Parish Priest Reference Form, NAPLAN results, a Birth Certificate and a Baptism Certificate will be requested at the end of January, two years prior to entry.
    • Families will receive a Parish Priest Reference Form. This is an essential document for the enrolment process as outlined above.
    • Near to the time of this interview, a tour of the College and our facilities will be available.
    • Offers are then sent out at the end of Term 2.
    • Offers must be accepted by the notified date or the offer will lapse immediately, unless alternative arrangements have been arranged with the Registrar.
  • Education Support Department
    • Education Support enrolments follow the same procedures as listed above. Any students enrolled at Sacred Heart College can access the support of the Mary MacKillop Centre. Non-Catholic students may gain a place in our Mary MacKillop Centre if there are vacancies.
    • Students applying for admission to the Education Support Department will be required to attend an interview with the Principal and Head of Inclusion and are asked to bring the latest Psychological Report to the interview.
  • Siblings
    • Brothers and sisters of students currently enrolled or accepted for enrolment will go through a slightly different process with their interview being conducted later in the year.
